A state press release says the Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit indicted 16 people in connection with assaults at Coffee Correctional Facility in Coffee County.
Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced that the office’s Gang Prosecution Unit has indicted 16 individuals in connection with assaults at Coffee Correctional Facility, according to a state press release.
The release says the assaults occurred at the facility on Dec. 13, 2025, and that the indictment was returned by a Coffee County grand jury on June 18, 2026.
The Attorney General’s Office alleged the case is tied to gang-related activity inside the prison. The release states that indictments are allegations only and that defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
