Conyers, GA (July 23, 2026) - The GBI has arrested and charged Paige Forte, age 30, of Conyers, GA, with Misuse of a License Plate Reader System, following an investigation into the misuse of her access to the Flock Safety System. Forte is a dispatcher supervisor at the Conyers Police Department.
Vidalia, Toombs County, GA (July 24, 2026) – At the request of the Vidalia Police Department (VPD), GBI agents are investigating the deaths of Xzavier Elijah Andrews, age 20, and Za’Mariyah Nicole Robinson, age 17, both of Vidalia, GA.

Quitman, Brooks County, GA (July 25, 2026) - At the request of the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) and the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), GBI agents are investigating an officer involved shooting in Quitman, Brooks County, GA. Mark Alderman, age 58, of Quitman, was shot and killed in the incident. No deputies or troopers were injured.

This week encourages Georgians to educate themselves about winter weather threats, update or develop a family communications plan, and ensure their Ready Kits are equipped with essential items to prepare for winter weather.
(ATLANTA) – Governor Brian P. Kemp declared a statewide State of Emergency today ahead of Winter Storm Fern's impact on the state this weekend. The Governor also directed the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) to activate the State Operations Center (SOC) and mobilize any needed resources to address any potential needs around the state. The State of Emergency will run through January 29, 2026.
